Panama City, Panama. The first contingent of Panamanian rescuers left Friday afternoon for Venezuela. They join search and rescue operations after devastating earthquakes<\/strong> there. The quakes have killed more than 929 people and left hundreds missing.<\/p>\n

The team includes 13 rescuers and four canine units. They traveled aboard an aircraft from the National Aeronaval Service (Senan). This mission is part of the aid deployment announced by the Government of Panama. The country will send a total of 61 specialists to assist Venezuelan authorities with the emergency response.<\/p>\n

Omar Smith, director of the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc)<\/a>, provided details about the operation. He confirmed the first team will stay in Venezuela for approximately seven days. Second Group Prepares for Departure<\/h2>\n

Government Minister Dinoska Montalvo announced that a second group will leave Friday afternoon. This group includes the remaining 61 Panamanian rescuers. They will reinforce humanitarian efforts in Venezuela.<\/p>\n

Beyond specialized personnel, Panama is also sending humanitarian aid. Food collected at collection centers in Panama City<\/a> and other parts of the country will be shipped. This builds on previous efforts such as the Panama humanitarian aid to Venezuela<\/a> initiative from recent years.<\/p>\n

The earthquakes struck Wednesday in northern Venezuela. The Venezuela earthquake magnitude<\/a> reached 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale. Dozens of buildings collapsed, especially in La Guaira near Caracas. An international search and rescue operation is now underway.<\/p>\n
