For the next four weeks, Panama’s coastlines will host one of the largest environmental mobilizations of the year as the 22nd edition of Panama’s Oceans Month gets underway. Forty-eight activities spanning all ten provinces and the Ng\u00e4be-Bugl\u00e9 comarca will bring together marine biologists, student volunteers, and local communities in a coordinated effort to protect the nation’s dual shorelines along the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. The celebration carries the theme “Panama, the heartbeat of two seas,” reflecting the country’s unique geographic position between two oceans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biologists will spend much of September documenting sea turtle<\/a> populations in three critical habitats: Bastimentos, Jaqu\u00e9, and Coiba National Park. These monitoring efforts feed directly into national conservation databases and inform long-term protection strategies for endangered marine species. Scientists have identified these sites as vital nesting and foraging grounds for multiple turtle species, including hawksbills and leatherbacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Santa Ana de Los Santos will witness the launch of a new mangrove restoration phase.
