Panama City hosted the opening of World of Coffee Panam\u00e1 2026 on Friday, October 23, a landmark Panama coffee event<\/a> that marks the first time the international gathering<\/a> has been held in a Latin American producing country. President Jos\u00e9 Ra\u00fal Mulino inaugurated the event at the Panama Convention Center<\/a>, where it will run through October 25, drawing an estimated 13,000 attendees<\/a> including producers, buyers, and consumers from around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event aims to share knowledge, showcase preparation techniques, and highlight the quality of Panamanian coffee<\/a> in the global marketplace<\/a>. Organizers expect the gathering to serve as a platform for connecting local growers with international investors and buyers seeking specialty beans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Government Support and National Pride for Our Coffee <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mulino emphasized that hosting the event positions Panama’s coffee sector alongside its more famous assets. “We already have not just the Canal, we have a coffee, we have a logistics center and those things, of course, attract many people,” the president said [Translated from Spanish]. He expressed particular pride that the event is being held for the first time in a Latin American producing country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president acknowledged the work of families dedicated to coffee production, especially in Chiriqu\u00ed province where he is from. He noted that quality coffee is not limited to the Tierras Altas region, with other areas of the country also cultivating beans of high quality. Mulino singled out the Specialty Coffee Association of Panama for its role in positioning the country as a global reference point in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
