Panama City’s municipal government has approved extended liquor hours for bars, restaurants, and nightlife venues during the upcoming November patriotic celebrations<\/a> and December holiday season<\/a>. The measure, formalized through Mayoral Decree No. 9 dated October 7, 2026, allows qualifying establishments to serve alcohol until 6:00 a.m. on select dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision targets specific high-demand dates when residents traditionally gather for celebrations. On November 3, which marks Panama’s separation from Colombia, licensed venues can operate from midnight through 6:00 a.m. the following morning. Similar extensions apply to November 4, 5, 9, and 27, as well as December 7, 24, and 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Extended Liquor Hours Will Work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The extended schedule applies only to businesses holding a valid nighttime operating permit issued by the Panama City mayor’s office<\/a>. Establishments without this permit cannot take advantage of the later closing times. The decree also covers temporary permits for commercial, recreational, social, or charitable activities that involve sound equipment and temporary noise generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Venues located in the Casco Antiguo historic district, the Amador Causeway, and shopping centers with a minimum area of 100,000 square meters will continue operating under their existing regulations. These areas follow separate rules established by Mayoral Decree No. 5 from August 4, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
