An overnight blaze at Flamenco Marina along Panama City‘s Amador Causeway destroyed two vessels late Saturday, prompting a full investigation by national fire authorities. The Amador marina fire broke out around 11:20 p.m. on October 24 in the Ancón district, according to the Benemérito Cuerpo de Bomberos de la República de Panamá.
No injuries or fatalities were reported. Firefighters from the Panama Regional Zone deployed five vehicles to contain the flames, including three extinguishing units numbered 294, 769, and 856, plus two operational support vehicles numbered 453 and 420.

Emergency Response and Fire Suppression
Crews managed to fully extinguish the fire after an intensive operation at the popular tourist marina. The two boats sustained material damage, though officials have not yet released estimates on the financial losses or the vessels’ specifications.
The incident drew a rapid response given the marina’s proximity to restaurants, shops, and pedestrian areas along the causeway. Firefighters worked to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby docks or additional watercraft moored in the area.
Investigation Into Amador Marina Fire Causes
The Dirección Nacional de Seguridad, Prevención e Investigación de Incendios (DINASEPI) has taken charge of determining what sparked the blaze. As of Sunday afternoon, authorities had not disclosed a probable cause or whether the fire originated on one vessel before spreading to the second.
Investigators will examine witness accounts, marina surveillance footage, and physical evidence from both boats. The scene remains under review as officials work to establish the sequence of events that led to the late-night emergency.

Safety Record and Regional Context
Flamenco Marina serves as a key docking point for recreational vessels, fishing charters, and tour boats operating in the Bay of Panama. Fires at marinas present unique challenges due to fuel storage, electrical systems, and the proximity of vessels to one another.
Panama’s fire service has emphasized prevention protocols for marina operators in recent years, particularly during peak tourist seasons when boat traffic increases along the Amador Causeway. The absence of casualties in this incident reflects what officials described as a coordinated suppression effort despite the late hour.
DINASEPI’s findings will likely inform any recommendations for enhanced fire safety measures at the facility. Marina management has not issued a public statement regarding temporary closures or operational impacts following the incident.
