The Albrook station on Panama Metro Line 1 will open at 10:00 a.m. this Sunday, March 8, due to construction work. The temporary schedule change is necessary for integration work related to the future connection between Line 1 and the new Line 3.
From 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Line 1 trains will operate in both directions only between the Villa Zaita and 5 de Mayo stations. Passengers needing to travel during this three-hour window must plan their journeys around this adjusted service. The station and its pedestrian walkway to the Albrook Bus Terminal will be temporarily closed.
Integration Work for Future Metro Line 3
This specific construction activity involves installing a new roof structure at the station. Officials from the Panama Metro authority stated the work is a critical step in physically linking the existing and future rail systems. The project aims to enhance overall safety, functionality, and comfort for the station’s thousands of daily users.
The work is part of the broader Line 3 project, a major expansion of the capital’s rapid transit network. Once completed, Line 3 will connect Albrook with Panama City’s western suburbs, significantly expanding the system’s reach.
“These scheduled works are essential for the future integration of the metro network,” a Panama Metro spokesperson said. [Translated from Spanish] “We ask for the understanding of our users this Sunday morning. All services will return to normal by 10:00 a.m.”
Normal train service frequency and the pedestrian walkway reactivation are both scheduled for 10:00 a.m. The Panama Metro confirmed the station will resume its regular operating hours immediately after the work concludes. Passengers can expect full, uninterrupted service for the remainder of Sunday and the following week.
Metro authorities advised commuters to check official social media channels for any last-minute updates. They also recommended allowing extra travel time for any essential trips during the affected Sunday morning period.
