Panama travel updates confirm that operations at Tocumen International Airport are returning to normal following the October 9 earthquake, with inspections finding no structural damage to runways or boarding bridges. Airport officials said all checked structures remain fully operational.
The Air Operations Control Center (AOCC) continues to apply safety protocols in response to aftershocks. When conditions warrant, operations are temporarily suspended for inspection and resume only after the environment is verified as secure.

Panama Travel Updates and Flight Rescheduling
Tocumen’s administration is coordinating directly with airlines to provide operational support and speed up rescheduling for affected flights. The joint effort targets the backlog of passengers and flights caused by the seismic emergency, allowing those unable to continue their journeys to depart progressively.
José Ruiz Blanco, general manager of Tocumen, S.A., addressed the recovery effort.
“We are working tirelessly, together with the airlines and the entities present at the airport, to fully restore normal operations and ensure that affected passengers can continue their journeys as soon as possible, without compromising the safety of our passengers and employees” [Translated from Spanish]
Airport Inspections and Safety Protocols
Runway and boarding bridge inspections detected no damage or foreign objects. The AOCC emphasized that temporary suspensions occur only when conditions require, with operations resuming strictly after safety verification.
Updated flight schedules will appear on terminal display screens. Travelers are advised to stay in contact with their airlines to confirm itinerary status and follow airport personnel instructions.

Passenger Guidance and Operational Outlook
The airport authority reiterated its focus on passenger safety while managing the accumulation of delayed flights. Ruiz Blanco added,
“All our efforts are focused on ensuring they can continue their journey safely” [Translated from Spanish]
With both terminals operational and no structural issues identified, Tocumen expects a progressive return to full flight schedules. Passengers should monitor airline communications and airport displays for the latest departure times as aftershock protocols remain in effect.
