A team of young Panamanian students has secured a prestigious international honor at a global technology competition. The team, named Asimov Juliet from Vision del Saber school, received the Future Innovator Team Spirit Award at the World Robot Olympiad finals in Singapore. Their victory highlights Panama’s growing presence in the competitive field of educational robotics.
The award specifically recognizes innovative spirit and creative collaboration in robotic projects. It was presented in the elementary category, which is for students between eight and twelve years old. The winning team consists of students Ana Jimenez, Zoe Murillo, and Abdielys Batista, who were coached by their mentor, Lia Victoria Narvaez.
This award is a deserved recognition from the World Robot Olympiad for Panama’s growth in the development of educational robotics and STEAM education, [Translated from Spanish] said Neyda Dominguez, Executive Director of FUNDESTEAM. She added that the achievement inspires continued work and contributions to the country’s educational system.
Dominguez praised the entire Panamanian delegation for its excellent teamwork and for representing the nation with distinction on a global stage.
Panama’s Overall Performance in Global Rankings
The Singapore 2025 edition of the olympiad presented a significant challenge, featuring 1,575 participants from 595 teams and 92 different countries. Panama fielded multiple teams across various competition categories, achieving several notable rankings against this intense international field.
In the Robotic Missions Elementary division, another team from Vision del Saber, Asimov Echo, placed 36th out of 96 competing teams. The junior division saw team Eco Rover from Panama Christian Academy secure the 39th position among 112 teams. For the senior Robotic Missions category, the Asimov Tango team, also from Vision del Saber, earned a strong 26th place out of 95 teams.
The Future Engineers category included a team from Instituto Sun Yat Sen called VizDrive, which climbed to 20th place out of 64 entrants. In Robotic Sports, the SDLG1 team from Colegio San Vicente de Paul de Veraguas participated, finishing in 48th place within a field of 56 teams.
Medal Wins Across Innovation Categories
Panama’s success extended beyond the special spirit award into the main Future Innovators competition. The award-winning Asimov Juliet team itself captured a bronze medal by finishing 13th out of 31 teams in the elementary Future Innovators division.
The junior Future Innovators category featured team Xplorbot from The Oxford School, which won a silver medal for its 15th place finish among 58 teams. Another bronze medal was secured in the senior Future Innovators division by the Royal Lions team from Colegio Real de Panama, which placed 47th out of 70 teams.
These collective results demonstrate a broad and deepening engagement with robotics across multiple age groups and schools in Panama. The students are not just participating, they are now consistently ranking and winning medals against peers from around the world.
The entire delegation is scheduled to return to Panama, arriving at Tocumen International Airport Terminal 1 this Saturday around seven in the evening. Their return marks the conclusion of a highly successful mission that has brought international acclaim to the country’s educational programs.
