The detention musician case stems from a September 20 crash near Dolega that killed a 17-year-old teen pedestrian, authorities confirmed.
The judge validated the arrest and judicial proceedings, then ordered the suspect held for six months while the Public Ministry investigates. Prosecutors argued the defendant posed a flight risk, a position backed by the victim’s family through their legal representation.

The collision occurred when a pickup truck struck two people near the entrance to Dolega. The teenage victim died later at a hospital. The second injured person’s condition was not detailed in court records. The suspect was apprehended days after the incident following a search that drew public attention.
Defense attorney Concepción Gutiérrez contested the detention ruling, stating there was no evidence his client would flee the country or evade justice. Gutiérrez said the hearing followed established procedure and law, adding he expects justice within a reasonable timeframe.
The victim’s father, Hossam Khadaj, demanded an objective investigation.

Grupo Aventurero, the musical group employing the suspect as its drummer, issued a statement addressing social media speculation about the accident. The band confirmed only the drummer was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Other members were waiting at a prearranged meeting point for a professional commitment.
According to the group, the drummer called them saying his vehicle was stranded elsewhere and requested help. Video circulating online showing band members moving the vehicle was recorded after the incident, when they were unaware of the crash or that someone had been injured, the statement said.
Once members learned what happened, they told the drummer to turn himself in to authorities. The band declined to draw conclusions about the accident, citing respect for the judicial process, but expressed willingness to cooperate with official requests.
Community Reaction and Investigation Timeline
Friends and classmates of the deceased teenager attended the hearing to demand accountability. Yusef Alamel Din called the incident inhumane. Diego David Gómez remembered the victim as an exemplary son. Abi Gustavo Jaramillo expressed sorrow over the loss.
The judge set a six-month investigation period. The Public Ministry will gather evidence, including witness statements and any available traffic camera footage, to determine whether the charge of aggravated negligent homicide is supported. The provisional detention can be appealed by the defense.
